Miami Vacation

Miami Vacation

Feb 23. - Feb 26 , 2022

Wednesday:
This year Fuzzy and I decided to take a mini vacation to the warmest spot in the USA in February. We had an early morning start. Left at 4am. We decided to park right near the airport, rather than take the shuttle. It was a cool morning, only in the teens. We arrived to 80 degrees in Miami. We rented our car and made our way to North Miami Hilton Double tree resort. On the way we stopped at Publix to get our groceries for the week. I think we over purchased. Whoops…never fails when you travel with Jill. Once to our resort we had dinner in and then went for a dusk swim. The pool water was so warm! Afterwards we hit the sack early given the long day of travel. We had ourselves a one bedroom suite with a mini kitchen.

Thursday:
This morning my hour run was amazing along the beach. We had breakfast and then made our way to the pool and beach. After getting a good 2 hours of sun we were ready for an adventure. After lunch in the room we drove to the Miami sea aquarium. Greta was in heaven seeing the flamingos, , manitees, mantirays, dolphins and fish. Greta purchased a much needed stuffed animal and we both got our ice cream fix. We headed back to our resort, showered up, and got dressy for dinner at the resort. Unfortunately Greta didn't realize her chicken was spicy BBQ. Whoops! Good thing for tomato soup in the room. I enjoyed my Mahi Mahi tacos. While waiting for dinner we played bean bag toss whoops we got a holl in the been bag and got nice photos with the ocean behind us. Once in our room we watched episodes of modern family until we crashed.

Friday:
This morning I ran south along the beach. Now I know why people don't go that direction! I came across a nude beach…mostly old men, however I did see one obese old lady. One guy decided to do squats right in front of me! I tried to keep my focus on my feet infront of me. Once back to our resort Greta and made our way to the pool and ocean for a day of relaxing. I really didn't want to spend another day driving around in traffic. After countless games of grading Fuzzy doing tricks in the pool we changed into dry clothes and went across the street in attempt to find Greta shoes or a dress. No such luck. Greta did find a mooshmush. Imagine that! Next we hit Starbucks. Yum…decaf iced coffee with coconut milk topped in cinnamon for me and hot cocoa for Fuzzy. Afterwards we had lunch at our poolside bar. Next we hit the ocean and beach for chilling. I love the sea salt feel!! We caught several waves. After a cold brew chocolate high fat milk for mom and croissant with Concord grape jam for Fuzzy I went for a stroll along the beach. We then showered up and I went to my facial at the spa. Now that was a unique experience. I think I prefer massages instead of facials. Having steaming water directed at your face to open your pores for 10 min isn't pleasant. Unfortunately Greta got locked out of the room. She came down to check in for her facial and realized she had time to wait…she wanted to go back to the room but realized she didn't have her key. She didn't know where and what to do so she texted dad. It shook her up some. She and I decided maybe it would be best she skip hers and we grab dinner. We again went to the resort's restaurant for our dinner. I got a chicken Caesar salad and Greta got spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. We had energy so we decided to get photos on the beach at dusk. Greta found a coconut washed ashore. After a good hour of giggles we made our way back to the room for chill time.

Saturday:
This morning I made the mistake of running south along the shore past the naked beach again. I so could see Matt Hanson there in 20 years! Once back to my room we had our final breakfast and packed up our bags to head home. We had to return our car to the South Miami Budget car rental and hop an Uber ride from there. Our car rental place was in a zone of Miami that many 20-30 year olds walked around strutting there stuff with tight leggings high waisted with belly's showing and men showing off their cute dogs sipping their cold brews. Many outdoor cafes in the area. Once to the airport, after standing in the security line 45 min we found Greta new pink crocks and made ourselves to our gate. We face timed dad and Wilson. Wilson looked spent lying on his Costco rug. I'm sure he will be excited to see Fuzzy soon! Now we are aboard our flight home.

Our trip was a blast. Always nice to get some sun. And 80's can't be beat! Only a month away and we head to Mexico for our trip with the cousins!! 🙂ps greta literally exploded With excitement
